In this sequel to 1947's DEAR RUTH, Bill (William Holden) and Ruth (Joan Caulfield) Seacroft are young marrieds with in-law problems. Bill's father-in-law (Edward Arnold) is a blustering judge whose word is law around the court and the house, and when Bill tells the judge that he doesn't know what a good breakfast is (the judge loves grapefruit in the morning and Bill hates it), the feathers fly. Kid sister-in-law Miriam Wilkins (Mona Freeman), who is socially conscious and very political, uses her wiles to get Bill into a race for the state senate. That wouldn't be a huge problem except that his opponent is the judge! A lighthearted family farce, the second in a series that would end with the next entry, DEAR BRAT (1951), featuring Freeman. leave a comment
