1937, Movie, NR, 73 mins

Pidgeon is the editor of a newspaper that is taken over by the glamorous O'Sullivan. She's an independent woman and the sparks fly. Not quite THE FRONT PAGE, but the dialog is witty and delivered well by the leads. The direction has a fine feel for comic timing, making this a nice little farce. This was Pidgeon's first lead role at MGM, even though, by 1937, he had already appeared on stage and screen for 20 years and had started out in the early talkies as a singing hero in operettas. leave a comment
