I saw a trailer for a British ...

Question: I saw a trailer for a British movie I'd love to rent, but I can't remember the title or any of the actors. A single mother raises her son telling him his father is away at sea, and over the years she writes letters to him that are supposedly from the father. Then the ship she's always said his father is on docks at port, so she has to find a man to pretend he's her son's father. I think it's a recent film.


Answer: It's Dear Frankie (2004), with Emily Mortimer as the mom and Gerard Butler as the stranger she convinces to impersonate the absentee father of her deaf son, Frankie. It's available on DVD from Miramax.
