Third in a series of family comedies based on the play and film DEAR RUTH (1947). This one stars Freeman as the teenage daughter of a former judge who is now a senator, Arnold. She wants to help society, as her father does, by reforming a criminal. She hires Bettger, a bitter ex-con, to
work as the family gardener. Unfortunately, it was Freeman's father who sentenced Bettger to prison when he was a judge. Most of the action centers around Freeman's efforts to unite the ex-con with his wife, Winston, and his small daughter, Wood, whom he is forbidden to see due to potential parole
violations.
