They managed to keep the cost of this movie under $1.5 million, and it still lost money? This was Quinn's first spaghetti western (westerns made in Italy to look as though they were made in the states; Clint Eastwood filmed a bunch, so did Bronson, and Sergio Leone almost raised it to an art form), and it was a bad entry into the field. Quinn plays a deaf mute who had been a hero in the US Civil War. He and Nero are traveling around the West trying to make a living as mercenaries.
