Vile cop drama from the team who brought viewers the intense, fast-paced, extremely vicious VICE SQUAD (1982). This one stars Wings Hauser (the sleazy lunatic in VICE SQUAD) as Stoney Cooper, a detective handling assignments on both coasts. He tries to track down a mass murderer while under constant pressure from former colleague Otto Hoxley (Lincoln Kilpatrick). At the same time, Cooper tries to patch things up with his estranged wife, Eddie (Joyce Ingalls), a TV news reporter covering the killings. The plot twists are telegraphed long before they happen, and Hauser and company just can't generate the kind of magic that made Don Siegel's DIRTY HARRY (1971), or even VICE SQUAD, so effective. leave a comment
