Katie McGovern (Steenburgen) is a struggling New York actress who is offered the chance for a part in a film by talent agent McDowall, who tells her that she must undergo some testing in upstate New York at the home of a film producer. She is to replace the lead actress of the already-begun film, who has disappeared. Once in the spooky mansion, Katie is transformed to look like the actress who vanished and does her video test before wheelchair-bound the producer Dr. Lewis (Rubes).
