Dead Ringers: Review

A brilliant dual performance by Jeremy Irons as twin gynecologists anchors this extremely unsettling, at times surprsingly amusing, shocker by David Cronenberg. Continuing the kind of detailed character study he began in The Fly, Cronenberg gradually and deliberately comes to horrify the viewer, rather than shocking outright with exploding heads, squirming parasites or vomiting Brundleflies.
