American director Fuller answered his cult of European fans by making this bizarre tongue-in-cheek private-eye movie financed by German television. Corbett stars as a detective whose partner is murdered while investigating a gang of drug-dealing extortionists who photograph big-shot international-politico types in compromising situations with the lovely Lang. Corbett goes undercover and joins the ring to get the goods on the group. The film offers typically vigorous camera work but what makes it special is its looney sense of humor. Laden with in-jokes, the film is best approached as a goofy parody of crime thrillers. leave a comment
