My Name Is EarlMost people just buy their mom a card and maybe some flowers, but it just figures that a pint-size Earl beat up a more prepared kid and steals a homemade coupon book. All these years later, Earl, who incidentally was originally supposed to be named Carl but became Earl due to a penmanship error, finally tries to make his mother breakfast in bed to cross No. 266 off the list. But as is often the case with this show, the main story line wasn't nearly as funny as the random side jokes or the subplot. Joy celebrating her week of freedom from her kids by getting falling-down drunk and inviting Randy to spend the night. Hysterical. She's too great and I loved her sexy pigtails. Question: My friends are having a huge argument: Is Renee Zellweger in Dazed and Confused or not? We've watched it repeatedly, examining every background blonde to no avail, and the presence of Zellweger-doppelgänger Joey Lauren Adams doesn't help. So is she or isn't she?
Answer: She is, but I've never been able to pick her out. Renee Zellweger has an uncredited, nonspeaking bit part as one of the senior cheerleaders in Dazed and Confused (1993). It was her first screen role.

Rory Cochrane may have shot himself in the foot before thieves put a bullet in his character's chest. Although CSI: Miami producers obliged his request to leave the show, there was a catch: He cannot do "any kind of television work — cable or otherwise" until 2008, he says, because he signed a six-year contract with the show.
The 31-year-old actor — who says he "couldn't really handle the grind anymore" — wasn't pleased with the way his character, Tim Speedle, was killed off in last month's season premiere. (He was fatally wounded when his gun malfunctioned during a shootout.) "It was lame," Cochrane says. "He got shot last year because of the same [gun malfunction]. It doesn't make sense. I mean, Speedle knows all these forensics things, and then he doesn't clean his gun?"
