Filmmaker Greg Mottola made what easily ranks among the best indie debuts of the '90s with this warm and witty comedy about a memorable car trip from the heart of suburban Long Island into Manhattan. Hope Davis and Stanley Tucci seem to have a happy marriage until Davis finds an incriminating love note. Her overbearing mother (Anne Meara) insists she go into the city and confront her husband; Parker Posey, Liev Schreiber and Pat McNamara come along for the ride.
