The planet is on its last legs. Finch plays a rebellious scientist with potential answers to society's problems. But in his selfishness he creates a new messiah through a child by Runacre. The result is an apelike monster. The special-effects crew create a believable surreal world, but the material is handled in a mishmash of styles, garbling any possible message. Now that Austin Peck is back as Sami's ex-lover, Austin Reed, what better time for Christie Clark to return as Carrie, the half sister Sami once battled for his affections?
