West's last film for Paramount--a studio she had earlier saved--was doomed from the outset. In 1937, the year of the picture's release, she drew so much outraged publicity from a radio appearance with Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy on the Chase & Sanborn Hour that the decent-minded throughout the country were ready to pounce if she so much as asked for cream in her coffee. Unfortunately for moviegoers, with this one she gave them no reason to pounce.
