West's last film for Paramount--a studio she had earlier saved--was doomed from the outset. In 1937, the year of the picture's release, she drew so much outraged publicity from a radio appearance with Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy on the Chase & Sanborn Hour that the decent-minded throughout the country were ready to pounce if she so much as asked for cream in her coffee.
