Secombe, a top British comedian of the time, stars in his movie debut as a member of a family of vaudeville performers known as "The Mad Morgans" who tour the small-time circuit waiting for their big break. When Secombe gets a chance to audition his singing voice at the opera and is
subsequently offered a lucrative contract, he is torn between abandoning his family (thus destroying their act and a chance for stardom) and making it on his own. Eventually, he opts to stick it out with the act, keeping the family together in this pleasant if unimpressive drama.
