George Montgomery, a US military scout named after his famous uncle, Davy Crockett, is assigned to stop Indian attacks on a defenseless group of wagon trains making their way west. Soon he realizes that someone in his outfit has been tipping the Indians off, because they seem to know what his next move will be before he makes it. Suspicion falls on Crockett's loyal Indian sidekick Red Hawk (Philip Reed), but the latter is vindicated when the real villain is revealed. Although this western adventure doesn't have anything to do with the renowned frontiersman from Tennessee, it is very enjoyable nonetheless. Five years later Walt Disney would make a film about the real Davy Crockett (see below) and start a national craze over the coonskin-capped hero. leave a comment
