Hallmark Entertainment’s ambitious two-part adaptation of the classic Charles Dickens novel ranks well above previous attempts at translating this captivating story to the small screen. Though the acting is a bit uneven, director Peter Medak manages to craft the elaborate plot, character, and visual elements of Dickens’s semi-autobiographical tale with a deft and compelling hand.
