Basserman plays a scientist experimenting with genetic splicing who artificially inseminates a prostitute with the semen of a hanged murderer. This union produces a beautiful, but cold and morally corrupt daughter, Helm. Lackluster direction by Oswald fails to charge the material with any
of the sensuality or atmosphere needed to make it successful. This was the fourth version of this material (two in 1918, one in 1928) and it would be made again in 1952.
