1951, Movie, NR, 95 mins

Based on the James M. Barrie play "Alice-Sit-by-the-Fire," this film is a very uninspired adaptation. Fontaine and Lund return home after five years in Central America, getting reacquainted with their three children. A subplot has oldest child Freeman, who has seen a wicked play about straying mothers, mistaking her own mother's friendly attentions toward young doctor Hanson as indiscreet and wanting to break it up. The film tries to be touching, but ends up forced and overlong. leave a comment
