A wolfman seeks a mate and eats candidates who don't measure up in this gore-fest that features a few hair-raising moments. A werewolf biker, Darkwolf (Kane Hodder, who played Jason Voorhees in several FRIDAY THE 13TH films), stalks present-day Los Angeles. When the half-man/half-beast isn't snacking, he's planning to propagate his species. According to Mary (Tippi Hedren), a bag lady possessed of considerable expertise where werewolves are concerned, if the biker-wolf finds Miss Right it will mean the extinction of mankind. Additionally, this unholy union would endanger a subspecies of partial- werewolves Mary has documented in her handy bible of Darkwolf lore. Mary, it ensues, is a benign wolf-lady herself and has befriended a fellow demi-werewolf named Josie (Samaire Armstrong). Josie, a waitress, has no idea what to make of the wolfen transformations that have started plaguing her. Darkwolf attacks Mary who, on her deathbed, entrusts Josie's care to handsome police detective Steve Turley (Ryan Alosio). Unfortunately, Josie's scent has rubbed off on her boyfriend, Tom (Aaron Van Wagner), her pal Stacey, (Andrea Bogart) and other associates. The Darkwolf attacks Tom, invades the Stacey's boyfriend's photo studio and feasts on more human flesh tartare. Stacey and her boyfriend barely escape into a freight elevator and hide out until they can hook up with Steve and Josie. Steve falls in love with Josie, even after he's seen one of her transformations. Perhaps true love and several well-aimed silver bullets can prevent Darkwolf from claiming Josie as his bride and stop the world being overrun by werewolves. Hedren has got to be the best dressed homeless woman in Hollywood history, and in addition to her stylish spin on Maria Ouspenskaya's role in THE WOLF MAN (1941), this chiller boasts decent special effects, modern mythology and a lesbian werewolf photo shoot! leave a comment --Robert Pardi
