The Dark Crystal

Once again employing his famous muppets, Jim Henson creates a brilliantly detailed universe with this intriguing fairy-tale adventure revolving around a power struggle between the monstrous Skeksis and the benevolent Mystics. Because the Dark Crystal has been broken, the Skeksis are in ascendance and will remain so unless Jen, one of two remaining Gelflings, is able to heal the crystal, thus fulfilling a prophesy that promises an end to Skeksis rule. Guided by the Mystics' cryptic instructions, and aided by Aughra, a sorceress, and Kira, the other (female) Gelfling, Jen goes about restoring the crystal.
