Slammed on its initial release for its derivative and often confused plotting, this second feature from The Crow director Alex Proyas is a marvel of production design. In a timeless city that looks a lot like some elaborate movie set from a 1940s remake of Metropolis, Rufus Sewell wakes up to a life he doesn't recognize, and there's a dead girl in the other room.
