A neatly concocted script details the experiences of six British Commandos and four Greek soldiers given the assignment of blowing up airfields on a Mediterranean island, in order to allow for a bigger attack to take place. Much of the action centers on their contending with crossing the
rugged terrain and remaining out of sight from possible enemy sightings. A gripping and suspenseful effort, in which director Milestone threw away the script upon arrival, having Bogarde improvise as they went along.
