George O'Brien, as Daniel Boone, leads settlers from North Carolina to the wilds of Kentucky. They stave off a few hostile encounters with some Indians, then have to fight for their lives when renegade John Carradine, decked out in a skunk skin cap, unites five tribes and incites them to
attack the new town the settlers have built. The attack lasts nine days, and with the settlers' water and ammunition running low, it looks like curtains for O'Brien and company. Suddenly it begins to rain, and the Indians scatter. All of this goes for naught, however, and a group of treacherous
Virginian aristocrats usurp the land after it has been cleared and made habitable.
