Dangerous Nan Mc Grew

1930, Movie, NR, 71 mins

starstarstarstar
Feeble musical comedy stars Helen Kane, the original "boop-boop-a-doop" girl. Kane and Moore are owners and stars of a medicine show which is heading for the poorhouse. They get a $10,000 reward for the accidental capture of an escaped murderer. Film is played mostly for laughs and gets few of them. Kane won brief fame for her squeaky "boop-boop-a-doop" rendition of the song "I Wanna Be Loved by You" in the musical "Good Boy" in 1928. After DANGEROUS NAN McGREW, however, she made only one more movie, HEADS UP (1930). Songs: "Dangerous Nan McGrew," "I Owe You" (Don Hartman, Al Goodheart), "Aw! C'mon, Whatta Ya Got To Lose?" (Richard A. Whiting, Leo Robin), "Once a Gypsy Told Me [You Were Mine]" (Irving Kahal, Sammy Fain, Pierre Norman). leave a comment
