Cinematic version of the legend of the Dalton Gang. Crawford, Donlevy, Erwin, and Albertson are the four brothers who turn to a life of crime after being run off their land by insensitive railroad people. Although being criminals was not their original intention, it becomes the only course
after one of the boys accidentally kills a villainous land-grabber. Scott plays the lawyer who attempts to give the Daltons a fair court trial. An excellent job of directing by Marshall, effectively combining hard-hitting action, believable character development, and even a bit of humor.
