Based on a British television series of the same name, the story is set in 1940 and focuses on Britons who weren't in the armed forces rallying to the crisis of the expected Nazi invasion. the Walsingham-on-sea contingent of the Home Guard is led by a bank official and consists of a bunch of misfits who wade through a series of humorous misadventures, climaxing in the capture of three German aviators who parachute into Britain.
