Writer, director and producer Frederic Golchan's film examines bond of brotherhood through the story of four friends whose long-standing friendship is put to the ultimate test. The ensemble cast features Sean Astin, Jason Lewis, Robert Mailhouse and Chris Rydell as men who have their careers in order but haven't worked out their love lives. Walter (Robert Mailhouse) is the only one in a committed relationship with his slightly neurotic girlfriend Nancy (Molly Ringwald), but he enjoys nothing more than kicking back with his buddies and discussing their dating mishaps. After spending long days at the office, the friends unwind by indulging in their passion for rowing; they dream of someday competing in the Kingsley Regatta. The trouble is, they’re far from competition-worthy and have only two weeks to get in shape if they want to join the contest. A stroke of luck comes their way when neighborhood newcomer Kimberly (Gabrielle Anwar), the daughter of a well-respected Olympic rower, agrees to help them train. Kimberly's guidance not only gets the rowers in shape, but leaves each guy head over heals for her flawless beauty and unassuming charm. For the good of the team, all four agree not to get romantically involved with their new coach, but the promise is more easily made than kept: Each guy thinks he can outsmart his friends by romancing Kimberly on the side, warning her to not reveal their ‘secret’ to the others. Dating each man behind the others’ backs appears not to trouble Kimberly, but one too many drunken escapades results in an unplanned pregnancy and Kimberly has no idea who the father is. Smitten and blissfully unaware of the bizarre five-way love "triangle" in which they're involved, each man thinks he's a father-to-be and pledges to stick by Kimberly's side. But the "dads" get a rude awakening when the object of their affections sits them down to explain the predicament. As the regatta competition nears, the men are forced to make a decision: Sacrifice friendship in the name of love or make this new blended family work regardless of the baby’s paternity. leave a comment --Allison Corneau
