Ostensibly a sequel to Val Lewton's successful Cat People, this touching look at a lonely child's fantasies is one of the most ethereal films about childhood the cinema has produced. Kent Smith stars as the father of an introverted six-year-old girl (Ann Carter) whom he worries is being influenced by the spirit of his first wife (Simone Simon), a troubled beauty who believed she was descended from a race of cat people. Sequel to the classic horror film "Cat People" about a lonely child who creates an imaginary playmate with surprisingly dangerous results. Simone Simon ("Cat People," "The Devil and Daniel Webster") and Kent Smith ("Cat People," "The Fountainhead") return to star in this imaginative and entertaining follow-up to the classic original. Unlike "Cat People", this film takes on more of a fantasy genre, rather than horror, and it is very successful in doing so.
