Eerie and elusive, this unusually subtle thriller offers little in the way of big scares or intricate plotting. Instead, Japanese horror director Kiyoshi Kurosawa opts for unsettling imagery and moody atmospherics. The result is somewhat confounding, but utterly spellbinding.
