Cuban Fireball

Uninspired mambo film, in which Rodriguez is on her way to sunny Los Angeles to collect a whopping $20 million inheritance. Expecting a horde of money hounds to harass her, she disguises her tiny, perfect little figure in old woman's garb, leading to a predictable series of comic situations, none of which are very funny. Rodriguez was easily the most luscious young actress ever snared by Republic, and the studio attempted in this film to re-create the success of the old Lupe Velez features, hoping to launch a series of comedies with it.
