A remarkably revealing documentary about R. Crumb, the auteur of underground comics. Director Terry Zwigoff, an old friend and colleague, links the hilariously rendered and distinctly peculiar obsessions of Crumb's graphic work to the artist's fantastically dysfunctional family. In some circles, CRUMB's failure to pick up a 1994 Oscar nomination was regarded as even more outrageous than the well-publicized HOOP DREAMS freeze-out. leave a comment
