The Crowd Roars

Is there a car-racing movie worth its while that doesn't wind up at the Indy 500? Yes, a few, but most aim for that Memorial Day weekend, and THE CROWD ROARS is no exception. James Cagney is Joe Greer, an auto racer who fails to keep his kid brother, Eddie (Eric Linden), away from fast tracks and fast women. Before long, Eddie is involved with a floozy (Joan Blondell) and the brothers' animosity is played out on the track, where Joe's buddy Spud Connors (Frank McHugh) is killed while trying to keep the Greers' cars apart.
