Crossing Delancey

Set partly in New York's Lower East Side, where director Silver's excellent tale of immigrant Jewish life in the 1890s, HESTER STREET, also took place, this gentle romantic comedy is a fairy tale populated with real people. Irving stars as an attractive, intelligent Jewish woman in her early 30s who works in a classy Midtown bookstore. Although she lives on the Upper West Side, she frequently treks down to her old neighborhood south of Delancey Street to visit her grandmother, Bozyk.
