Returning to his village after being acquitted of his stepfather's murder, Esposito finds that most of the villagers have turned against him. Only his best friend, Bohm, remains loyal. Esposito becomes increasingly attracted to Petit, Bohm's mistress. The two begin an affair, and when
Bohm finds out, he's determined to kill his friend. However, he is unable to carry out his plan, and, in the meantime, Esposito realises he can't hurt his only friend in this way. He tells Petit that he cannot take her away. She runs off into the night and is struck by a car driven by Bohm's
mother. This inept, wooden melodrama is enlivened only by the lovely Petit.
