The Crooked Web

Suffering chiefly from a farfetched plot, this melodrama sets its sights on an American Gl, Lovejoy, who wrongly killed a German eight years earlier in Berlin. The rich father of the dead German hires a pair of private eyes to hunt down the guilty party and return him to Germany for prosecution. Agent Blanchard gets herself hired to work in a drive-in owned by Lovejoy. She eventually squeezes a marriage proposal out of him, whereupon fellow agent Denning comes on the scene posing as her long-lost brother. He tells the two of a scheme to earn $200,000 in Berlin.
