Produced by ex-crime reporter Martin Mooney, this one packs the wallop of a tough newspaper piece. Conway plays the bright young lawyer with well-known courtroom antics who accidentally kills a disliked barkeep. The bartender's unassuming dame is unlucky enough to stumble upon his body,
taking the rap for his death. Through his outlandish courtroom technique, Conway tries to prove that it was he who murdered the man. Eventually the jury swallows the story, acquitting both Conway and the girl. Well-directed with due credit going to director Wise for his extraordinary pacing.
