Loyer goes to the cinema and sees a film that depicts three historical murder cases. In the first, Lucrezia Borgia (Feuillere) poisons her lover (Ferzetti), but a maid who secretly loved him avenges his death by coating the inside of Feuillere's nighttime beauty mask with acid. In the
second story, set in 19th-century Paris, Morgan is wrongly accused of adultery. She sues for libel, but the accuser, a private detective hired by the wife of the man she is alleged to be having an affair with, bribes the jury to acquit him. Morgan kills him, and a sympathetic jury frees her. In
