Fast-paced musical comedy has the team of Olsen and Johnson on the loose in Hollywood. They're a couple of filmmakers none of the studios want to see. When they can't get backing for a film from Universal, they rent a movie lot and do it on their own. The film's loose plot is an excuse for Olsen and Johnson's wackiness, and offers an opportunity to showcase quite a few musical numbers and specialty acts. Cameos are made by the dozens, and the film is like a who's who of the people under contract to Universal in 1943. Songs include: "Pocketful of Pennies," (Eddie Cherkose, Franz Steininger), "Tropicana," "Get on Board, Little Children" (Don Raye, Gene DePaul), "Crazy House" (Cherkose, Milton Rosen), "Lament of a Laundry Girl" (Gerry Seelen, Lester Lee, Ted Shapiro), "Donkey Serenade" (Rudolf Friml, Bob Wright, Chet Forrest), "I Ought to Dance" (Sammy Cahn, Saul Chaplin), "My Rainbow Song" (Mitchell Parish, Matt Malneck, Frank Signorelli), "My Song Without Words" (John Latouche, Vernon Duke). leave a comment
