Dennis O'Keefe is an insurance investigator who has come to a small town to look into the death of one of its citizens. The deeper he digs, the harder it gets as it seems the town is covering up and doesn't want the truth known. The man who was killed was a rat and a bully and the report said it was suicide, but O'Keefe doesn't believe it.
