Wooley discovers gas station attendant Boone as a musical talent in this wretched country-western musical. Boone then goes to Nashville but is stricken with stage fright. He is picked up by an agent who dresses him as Abraham Lincoln and makes him a rock singer. Audiences are furious at this sacrilege so the President calls Boone's father to the White House to try to convince him to talk his son out of his act. The father travels to New York, where Boone is going to be on television. He comes out on stage and begins tongue-lashing his son. Boone sings a patriotic song, gets a standing ovation, and returns home with his father. A number of country-western stars make cameos. This is just plain bad. Songs: "Country Boy," "Cry, Cry Lily," "A Little Hunk of America," "Somewhere," "First Kiss," "She Passed My Way," "Would You Believe," "Wanted Dead or Alive" (Paul Crabtree), "Draggin' the River," (Sheb Wooley), "Tomorrow," "Baby, They're Playing Our Song," "Fifteen Cents' Worth of Pinto Beans," "The Grass Grows Greener," and "Cindy." leave a comment
