Superior Hammer/FOX horror film starring Pitt as an elderly countess who finds she can regain her youth and beauty by bathing in the blood of virgins. With the help of her loyal servant Green, Pitt keeps herself supplied with the blood of young beauties whose corpses are being discovered by the locals scattered about the countryside. For sexual interest Pitt latches onto young Eles by passing herself off as her own daughter. Unfortunately, as the bloodbaths increase so does Pitt's madness, until finally . . . Based upon the real-life mass murderer Countess Elizabeth Bathory, a mad Hungarian harridan who was found guilty of murdering virgins and bathing in their blood to preserve her youthful appearance. She is credited with 610 murders. The blood-letting countess was walled up in her rooms, where she died in 1614. leave a comment
