Reeves and Lewis are riding a freight they think is bound for Hollywood, California, but is really going to Hollywood, Florida. Hunger drives them to jump off the train somewhere in the rural South, where they try to steal a chicken. They are detected by the Zickafoose family and a prolonged, silly chase ensues. Moonshiners get involved, and the whole thing degenerates into a string of hick jokes and lousy songs. Some fairly talented people manage to embarrass themselves in this red-neck musical, the last film in Sonny Tufts' bleak career. Songs include: "Cottonpickin' Chickenpickers" (Hanks Mills), "This Must Be the Bottom" (Del Reeves), "Almost Persuaded," "Where Could I Go (But to Her)?" (Glenn Sutton, Billy Sherrill), "Comin' On Strong" (Lyn Parker), "Dirty Ole Egg Suckin' Dog," "Not Me," and "Messed Up." leave a comment
