Peak Dick Powell the way we like him, hard-boiled and a long way from Ruby Keeler. He plays a WWII Canadian flier with his mind set on avenging the murder of his French war bride by a Vichy officer. He pursues leads to Buenos Aires, where he encounters an underground group of Nazi hunters. Director Edward Dmytryk had a few problems shooting this tight film noir in Argentina: Evita Peron appropriated most of the available raw film for use in her own bad melodramas.
