If You Could Only Cook

Adorable Jean Arthur is cast as a poor girl who, by chance, meets automotive engineer Marshall and convinces him to pose with her to get jobs as cook and butler in mobster Carrillo's mansion, though neither of them are experienced. The comedy gets progressively screwier as the plot gets more entangled. Carrillo and bodyguard Stander, at one point, kidnap Marshall from a wedding ceremony to a society woman to bring about a reconciliation with Arthur. The pseudo-servants soon take a liking to each other, causing Arthur to try to sell Marshall's automotive plans to a car company. The finish leaves everybody happy.
