Western myth gets urban update in basis for "McCloud" television series. Arizona deputy arrives in NYC to track killer and teach city cops a thing or three. The interest here is in watching Eastwood, mid-point between spaghetti westerns and assuming his Dirty Harry persona, lock horns with Cobb, who gives a socko performance. Sterling is of passing interest as a female hippie. The first collaboration between Eastwood and Siegel raised the hackles of many a moralist with what was considered needless violence and too much sex. That's one way of saying today it looks tame, but you may get a literal kick out of the poolroom fight scene.
