A brutal murder takes place and Fitzgerald is convicted and sentenced to die. Problem is, he's innocent. McLaglen is the real killer and confesses to his priest, Calleia. Calleia tries to get him to give himself up, but McLaglen refuses. In a climactic ending Calleia is attacked by McLaglen. A crisis of conscience ensues and McLaglen gives a lifesaving blood transfusion to the priest. He admits to the crime, saving Fitzgerald from the chair. An interesting film, though some critics complained that it was nothing more than an inferior version of the 1935 John Ford film THE INFORMER. leave a comment
