It may take a whole box of Kleenex to get through this heartrending drama about a cabaret singer who kills a philandering concert pianist when she learns he's been performing with her daughter. Story is told in flashback from the courtroom where mom is on trial but remaining mum on why she
killed the man who years before had been responsible for separating her from her husband and little girl. The entire cast is excellent and the production is a fine vehicle for Francis. Other important contributions include the special attention paid to the music, and the decision that the actors
