This story of a speakeasy hostess sullied by men, but who pulls herself out of the gutter and emerges as a defiant heroine, was touted at the time as being a lady's magazine story foisted on a tabloid generation. Tully Marshall, in an inconspicuous part as a fire-eating old lawyer, breathes some life into a well-done, but overly long production. Ayres' third picture, it appeared four months after the great ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT. Remake of the 1919 silent film. leave a comment
