1987, Movie, R, 89 mins

One drug agent after another disappears while investigating a cocaine factory in Mexico. Then the toughest drug agent of them all, Kat Withers (Kathy Shower), gets the nod. She doesn't want to take the job at first, but when she learns that her old boy friend (Brian Thompson) is the latest missing agent, she heads south. She has been expected by the drug runners, who are led by Morgan Denny (William Smith), a former colleague gone bad. After a nicely constructed beginning, the film slows to a crawl until the final shootout, which is indistinguishable from a hundred scenes in a hundred movies just like it. Shower was a Playboy Playmate of the Year and acts like it. Thompson shows even less talent and looks more like a lifeguard than an agent. What the film does have going for it is a gang of B-movie stalwarts (Sid Haig, Mel Welles, Marie Windsor, Robert Quarry, and even Russ Tamblyn) who are always welcome in trash like this. Smith is one of the best villains in the business. leave a comment
