Six minutes of dialog at the end of this otherwise silent comedy help conclude the story of a society girl who falls in love with a crook, not knowing that he is an eccentric playwright who is gathering research for a new work on the underworld. Basquette dances in the film, showing the talent that made her the premiere danseuse of the 1923 edition of the ZIEGFELD FOLLIES. The six minutes of sound in COME ACROSS did little to advance the career of Harvard graduate Howes, who in the early twenties became famous as the "Arrow Collar Man." With the advent of all-sound movies the handsome hero of silent films was reduced to playing supporting roles.
